Day-use Sauna — Nagano

Day-use sauna

We have day-use sauna plans you can enjoy privately. The Forest Sauna, wrapped in nature, and the Tenku Sauna under the stars, are both yours to take in.

Forest Sauna & Onsen

Forest Sauna and onsen plan

\A “day visit” that feels like a small journey./

From 9:20 to 17:50, you are welcome to stay as long as you like.

Settle in the sauna in the forest, go round the baths, and take a pause in the rest room. Sauna, a nap after the bath, a drink, a round of the public bathhouses — spend it however you please.

During your visit, the ranch and Kaminari Falls, 15 minutes by car from MATSUKAWAKAN, are worth seeing too.

The saunas at MATSUKAWAKAN are used in a swimsuit, so you can go in together. A sauna is usually split by gender, but here you can share the experience with your partner or your children.

Two rooms: a very high-heat sauna, and a herbal sauna scented with Shinshu herbs and birch. If you love saunas, go to the very high-heat room. If you would rather take your time and enjoy the nature around you, enjoy the herbal sauna.

Onsen

Hot Spring

The onsen at MATSUKAWAKAN

The inner bath at MATSUKAWAKAN is open to day visitors as well. The soft source water of Yamada Onsen warms you slowly to the core. Natural light falls into the bathroom, and a quiet spreads through it that lets you forget ordinary life.

It does not have the equipment of a large public bathhouse. What it has is the real quiet, and the ease of toji, that only an inn can give you. Leave the noise of the city, and give yourself to the plain scent of wood and the warmth of the water.

Sotoyu

A round of the public bathhouses, feeling the character of Yamada Onsen

Sotoyu I | OyuThe central bath of Yamada Onsen, in continuous use since the Edo period. A historic public bathhouse long loved by local people. The build is simple, but you can feel the softness and the warmth of the source.
Sotoyu II | TakinoyuA local communal bathhouse long used by the people of the area. Its appeal is that it is plain and unpretentious, not made for tourists. Drop in, sink into the water — a stretch of time somewhere between everyday life and a trip away. Day-use guests are welcome here as well, though it may occasionally be closed for cleaning. Overnight guests can always bathe there.

Rest Space

Rest slowly at the inn

Guests on a day-use plan also have a rest room where you can lie right down, from 9:20 to 17:50. Sleep if you like, read if you like, and since there are power sockets, work if you like. Use it however suits you. After the onsen or the sauna, it is a quiet space in which to take your time.

Totonoi Lunch

The totonoi lunch at MATSUKAWAKAN

A slightly luxurious day trip, at an inn.

The “Shinshu Takayama Bowl” carries steak piled on boldly, and the famous hotpot uses more than ten kinds of mushroom picked in the local mountains, tasted with our own fermented sauce. It is a kind meal for the body after the bath.

Shinshu Takayama Bowl set¥2,680 (tax included)
